Learjet 45XR-KGJT-KBFI-PAKT-KGJT 2024
Back to Ketchikan we went, with a fuel stop in Boeing Field. That way even tough we could non stop it, we had $5 pr gal gas vs Ketchikan's $9. Biggest driver was however so instead of arriving with 1 hrs reserve we had 3:45 and could make it back to Boeing field should we for whatever reason not be able to land in PAKT.
Quite the surprise on Landing @PAKT, but you would have to watch the suspense to find out.
Please enjoy.

    going to have to do similar upgrades to my 2023 Apex Nano 208bhs we just got. Was the charge controller as simple as just unhooking the wires, removing the old PWM, and swapping in the MPPT?

    • @ebrabaek
      @ebrabaek 2 месяца назад

      Congratulations on your new trailer. Yes it was actually. At least with ours. Two wires from the OEM roof 100 watt solar panel and two going to the battery. It might be different with yours if you dont have OEM solar as some have reported that there are no wires, but as I presume yours have, you should be good to go. You set up and configure the Victron via the app. I find that if you have a tablet it is easier than your phone but thats just me. Ask away if you have any questions as you move along the project.

The 75/15 that I have will handle two 100 watt panels for a total of 200 but if you are going with more then you need to go a size up. • @ebrabaek
      @ebrabaek 3 месяца назад

      Once you make an access door of this caliber you will realize the time involved. You have to weigh that against the need and benefit before making that decision. In my case I considered it before starting but no matter of how I spun it the only need I found was for it to look cool. But in my case I have no need for a side door or two. Some might and it would look awesome. This is however not done. There will be a set of Carbon fiber crossbars installed along with a rear window once I identify it as well as a LED lighting package and perhaps a few more items.

    @ebrabaek, can you post a video showing the wiring? Forgive my ignorance...

    • @ebrabaek
      @ebrabaek 4 месяца назад

      Hi there Christopher. No need to apologize. I dont really have any video that illustrate the wiring diagram better then the shot @ 0:31 into the video, but I will be most happy to explain how to wire it. This switch is simply a disconnect switch. Just like when you turn on the lights in your house and back off, as it interrupts the flow of electricity. On my 194BHS I have 3 wires to the battery. One black wire and two red ones. The black goes straight to the negative on the battery and is not routed through the switch. The two red ones is as following. One comes from the converter box which charges the battery when the trailer is plugged in to "shore power" and the other one is from the solar controller to charge the battery when outside. I took the two red wires and simply cut them in half (making sure they could reach the disconnect switch where I mounted it) It matters not which side on the switch you connect the two red wires as all the switch does is make and disconnects the circuit depending on the switch position. Then on the other side of the switch just go to the auto store and buy a heavy gauge wire to connect that side to the battery. I think I used 8 or 10 gauge. You only need one big wire from the switch to the battery. One word worth noting is that as you pull the trailer outside or if it is always parked outside you need to have the switch in the on position. When a solar panel is generating power it needs to be able to go somewhere. If you have the switch off and have it parked outside you can do damage to the solar controller over time. If your trailer is parked outside all the time I would suggest thet you do not cut the small red wire from the solar controller. Only the big one from the converter. That is the one that has the drain anyway and this way the solar can maintain the battery while outside. Hope this offers a bit more clarity. If not ask away please.

    Thanks for doing a great job! So kind of you to share this new evolution of the Alex. I noticed you were doing this all on your own? Even more kudos to you! I saw your reflection in the polished metal. Having done some recording in the past I know it’s not as easy as “Roll!”! I’m sure you noticed & had well meaning caffineheads point out your “need for air”. You heard it first. Now you’re seasoned and know that much like a camera sees you differently than your eyes, so does a sound recording. It’s a frequency thing. For me it was maddening because I had to be constantly careful of my air intake & exhaling. It’s funny how we do something’s unaware until it’s played back for us and pow! With practice and attention you’ll correct it if not already. Your continuity is fantastic! It flows as if you had it scripted from beginning to end! Great job! I’ve been Jonesing for an Alex Duetto IV, but think I want the Evo instead, but with an E61 Flow control added! But first I need to find one!

Anywhere from 2 to 4 doubles a day. No failures, just o-ring lubes and the usual stuff. I enjoy the shot timer and the easy read of the gauges as they are on top. I would have liked to be able to dim the display or say time it out as it is always on. At some point I suspect it will need replacement like that light bulb you always leave on in the hallway....lol. I think they ran a small batch of the evo to see how it would do, as you dont see too many of them. Perhaps they did not do well and Alex reverted to their original design..... Not sure. I sure love mine. Good luck chasing one down.

      Glass is the same method. It does not wet as easy as carbon, have been my experience, but absolutely would be applied the same way. You gain a bit of weight and loose a bit of structural strength, but you can just add a layer or two if you feel the urge. I dont know what the thickness of the roll is...perhaps 9 inches....10 maybe. The fiber is 6oz 6k, or 3k same weight, just more strands to make up the 6oz. It runs about $23 pr yard whereas you can get glass for under $5 @Yard, so significant savings for sure.

Back in 1992 I learned to fly jets in a Learjet 25 snr 004. It was for a charter co and we did all training in house including stalls. The stalls in that thing happens so fast and you blew through the shaker.....buffets and pusher so fast that about a third of the time you were in excess of a 90 deg bank angle in a mere second. It was a challenge to master. One of the many questions I have is why was it stalled without a qualified stall test pilot? You have to do that to validate the flight characteristic after whatever maint done in order for QA to sign out the inspection(s). After crewing on many post maint stall flights in diferent part 25 aircrafts I have gained a tremendous respect for the full stall. The preliminary report were in large a statement of facts. Wel see as the final report arrives.

      @@ebrabaek I’m anxious for that final report. I imagine it should be finished relatively soon.

    DO NOT tow the 45 with the cabin door open!!!

      With your recommendation would you kindly point to where in the AFM the note, caution or warning would indicate that being the case?

    • @hirobowen
      @hirobowen 7 месяцев назад

      It’s there. You need to look up the ground handling instructions. CAUTION: ENSURE THAT EMERGENCY EXIT DOOR AND LOWER PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IS CLOSED AND LATCHED WHEN TAXIING OR TOWING THE AIRCRAFT. THIS IS TO AVOID POSSIBLE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURAL OR EMERGENCY EXIT DOOR DAMAGE.

    • @ebrabaek
      @ebrabaek 7 месяцев назад

      @hirobowen with respect..... it is not in neither the AFM, PM or PTM for that matter. You are quoting the FAA approved Maint manual for the Learjet 45. In fact Chapter 9-10-00 page 204 also, in addition to what you stated that one must put a person in the cockpit during nose gear towing. Nothing however mentioned in the FAA approved AFM which is our governing body available to operators of this fine flying machine. Back in 1996, I think it was, Learjet published a SIL that guided the general operation of towing the Learjet family of aircrafts. It stated that one should always close all doors as a precaution before towing. That has been adapted in large as a good guidance. We're we to pull the aircraft further than 50 feet straing out of our hanger then we will off course close the door, but my point is that unless it is in the AFM, even PTM, QRH, then it must not be that important as I assure you the amount of lawyers involved in writing procedures to protect people, aircraft or environment is perhaps a bit heavy and I'm sure it would be in there. There is however nothing wrong with closing the door lower and upper should you choose to do so and I tip my hat to you sir for duediligently doing so.
